Project Description

Install New Roof, Construct Boundary Wall, 3 Green Houses and parking area, and 3 office buildings to develop training capacity for the Ministry of Agriculture in Zabul Province

Project Goals

The goals for this project are three fold. First, it will provide a secure and useable facility for the Ministry of Agriculture. Second, it will provide a venue to train local farmers basic and vital techniques of growing and taking care of crops in training classrooms and hands on plots of land. A grave problem in Zabul is that farmers only have the capacity to grow enough food to survive from year to year. Bad growing seasons create a serious threat to the population, and malnutrition is a large cause of death in children between the ages of 2 and 6. Changing their archaic farming techniques into a more modern skill set should change this negative trend. Third, it will help GIRoA build economic development by removing farmers from agrarian farming where they only grow enough food to feed themselves and their family to developing a business sector in surplus sales development. Through better techniques and skills they will slowly begin to improve their skills to produce surplus for sale in the market.
