Project Description

The Cooperative Medical Assistance Strong Food Program is designed to address an urgent humanitarian need by combating infant, youth, and maternal severe malnourishment in the Kapisa province. The intent is to expand the capacity of the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) and Kapisa Director of Public Health (DoPH) in reducing malnourishment within the province with the end state of eliminating the need for such programs in Kapisa. By training women through the program and further educating them regarding children''''s nutrition; the women will become driving forces in reducing the malnutrition rates in Kapisa. As malnutrition rates diminish, these women could become potential candidates for critically needed mid-wives and/or nurses throughout the province.

Project Goals

Reduce malnutrition of the local infants, youth, and pregnant women of Kapisa. Train local women about nutrition. This will benifit the women, their immediate families, and their communities. Comments: PM: MSgt Heidi Benge
