Project Description

Design and construct approx. 7km road between Sal and Darin Villages. Road to be constructed with 6 meter Double Bituminous Surface Treatment (DBST) surface, 1 meter shoulders on both sides, and all required structures.

Project Goals

Reason for Project: Construct 8 meter wide DBST road between Sal and Darin Villages. Existing road is unable to support local development. Construction of the road will increase economic growth and security within the area and strenghten ties between GoA and the local populace. Economic benefits will be derived over the short term by the project itself. Long term economic benefits will be derived by improving transportation of goods and services between villages and districts.

Desired Project Effects: By improving transportation infrastructure, increased economic growth, improved local security, and greater national communication and unity will be enabled.

Measurable Effects: Improved development as evidenced by import and export of materials (GDP) and reduced unemployment on a village or district level. Reduction in long term occurences of intimidation and attacks on the local populace will indicate increased security and national ties.
