Project Description

Construct a cobblestone road in Qarabaghi Village located in Ghazni District.

Project Goals

Construct a cobblestone road that runs through the downtown area of Qarabaghi Village. The construction of the cobblestone road will improve overall road conditions and also employ locals from Qarabaghi village and surrounding areas. This will generate income for jobless residents and also improve commerce by making the bazaar and downtown area more accessible. The road construction will also improve drainage issues that occur during the rainy season. This project also facilitates OPORD-09-02. Comments: Project cancelled due to security

Results

Contract cancelled due to security. Contractor could not work in the area due to AAF presence and increased security costs. He signed the SF-30 on 24 May 2010.

Aug 11 2009 Contractor is staging materials before beginning construction. Expect construction to begin soon. Sep 15 2009 Contractor is staging materials before beginning construction. Expect construction to begin soon. Oct 21 2009 Contractor is moving forward with construction. Oct 21 2009 Contractor has finished staging materials and settled issues with locals. Expect construction to begin presently. Dec 18 2009 Work is currently not progressing on this project due to security and season. The PRT is considering possible courses of action with this project. Apr 16 2010 Contractor has been suspended due to security. Will look to resume shortly
