Construction of a 2.3km BRANCH road off the previously constructed Mosom Meran Secondary Road

Project Goals

This project creates a branch road that meets Afghan road standards from the village of Meran to the secondary road and further onto the ring road. The road will enhance the ability of vehicle transportation and better integrate the village with Herat, a major trade and government area.

The road will enhance the movement of people and products to and from Mosom Meran. Transportation is the key to reducing village isolation, leading to better trade and greater influence by the governemnt in the people's day-to-day lives.

Increased traffic on the route, expansion of trade between Mosom Meran and other villages, people working at a distance from Mosom Meran, greater influence by the IRoA on Mosom Meran. Comments: This project is an extension of a previously completed project (HIRAT-GOZARA-8073-22420). Requests for an increase in funds to compensate for the BRANCH road were denied. CJTFP requested that a new contract be established.
