Project Goals

The Asmar CBS2 program will employ 200 workers throughout the district. These workers secure their villages and key stretches of MSR California and the Asmar District Center. The workers prevent insurgent and anti-government forces from having safe haven and refuge in the district. Due to equipment and personnel shortages, neither the ANP nor the ANA are able to effectively secure the district. The CBS2 program will fill a critical gap in the security of the district. Additionally, the training that the CBS2 workers will receive from US and ANSF will increase the pool of trained Afghans prepared and willing to join in the ANSF. The eventual goal of the program will be to transition all of the CBS2 workers to become members of the ANA, ANP, or ALP. Without this program, the security situation in this district will deteriorate significantly. This will allow INS to find safe haven in the local villages and move men, weapons, and equipment from Pakistan through Ghaziabad and into other key areas such as Asadabad, the Pech River Valley, and Nuristan
