Project Description

Operation Bongiorno, on 27 December 2009, in Bala Morghab, Afghanistan, insurgents forced residents out of their home at MGRS 41S NV30614 37596. Taliban attacked Coalition Forces with several RPGs and small arms fire from the above locations. Coalition Forces were not able to advance or withdraw and were receiving accurate and effective enemy fire so the ground commander decided to eliminate the threat by means of bombs and hellfire missiles. The homes are no longer habitable, lands were damaged, and residents'' belongings were completely destroyed by Coalition Forces'' small arms fire and air strikes.

The family of Abdul Khaliq requires the amount of payment that will provide assistance in the rebuild of new homes, repair damaged land, and acquire household goods and that were destroyed. The victims have no ties with the INS.

Project Goals

Battle damage reparations will have lasting effects and will further demonstrate ISAF and GIRoA''s ability to remedy issues for the local populace. By providing reparations, local nationals will move back into their homes. Communities will be reinvigorated and support will grow for GIRoA. Comments: a.
