Project Description
Parmekan Damaged School Repair
Project Goals
Reason for Project: School was destroyed in a battle between Insurgent and US troops last year and is in a state of disrepair. The school needs major structural repair to school and outlying security wall. In addition, replacement of windows, doors, desks, chairs, blackboards, water tank, plumbing, pump, septic system, and a generator are required. Desired Project Effects: Create an environment that fosters literacy and provides the youth of the village with the tools to effectively give back to their communities by developing as individuals for the betterment of Afghanistan in the future. Measurable Effects: Limited monies to repair in comparison to the cost of potentially replacing the facility if the issues are ignored. Attendance levels are maintained or increased and literacy levels in the community improve. Comments: This is a high priority for the Herat PRT, USAID, and the ARSIC-W commander.
