Project Description

On or about 2 November 2009 in the village of Qulcha Bazaar, Dehrawood District, Oruzgan Province, an airstike destroyed several trucks and the goods they were carrying. Included in the goods were shoes, clothes, fruits, almonds and medicine. The trucks were owned by Haji Abdul Hamid, but the goods carried by the trucks were purchased by Haji Mohammed Nadar, Mohammed Sadiq, and Ajyaghamataka. The battle damage payments are for these individuals and are meant to reimburse them for the goods lost in the airstrike. It was independently verified through Air Force channels that US Air Assets were operating in the area and that they had dropped ordinance.

Project Goals

Battle Damage payments in the following amounts for the following individuals:

$2,200 - Ajyaghamataka

$2,200 - Mohammed Sadiq

$2,200 - Haji Mohammed Nadar

The CERP battle damage payment is not an admission of legal liability or fault. Rather, these payments are gestures made by the US Armed Forces to express condolence to individuals and families. It is meant as a symbolic gesture and not as compensation for a loss.

Results

Claimants each recieved money approved by Commander for the difficulties caused by the damage.
