Project Description

Design and construct an approx. 280 meter concrete truck bridge across the Kunar River at Guryak Village.

Project Goals

Reason for Project: Villagers in Guryak no relatively close truck capable access across the river which results in long trips to obtain necessary services. A river crossing, would provide reasonable access to educational, medical, and commercial services for the local village.

 Desired Project Effects: Install concrete bridge across the Kunar River in Guryak to allow improved access to services.

 Measurable Effects: Traffic across bridge to obtain educational, medical, and commercial services would provide quantifiable measures of effects as will increased usage of the critical services. Comments: Local officials have requested improved access across the Kunar River to obtain critical services.

May 21 2009 Bridge is definitely driveable again with sufficient repairs made to east side approach road and DBST surfacing on the west side complete or nearly complete. Photos confirming progress. Will still need re-do of east side approach road compaction results. Jun 21 2009 7/27/09 CIDNE update

At time of QA (June 21)- Bridge was 99% done - east approach needed to be slightly reworked
