The latest commenter brings up an interesting point: it takes 10 minutes to DRIVE across the “new” Ward F. It’s just simply going to be harder for ANYONE to represent that district fairly. #jcwardmeeting

There should be a vacancy tax. If you want to sit on housing that could put a roof over someone’s head just to increase your profit margin, then that should be the most unprofitable decision a property owner could possibly make. QT @ZaidaGrunes: Driving past store fronts that have been empty for years. These commercial landlords holding out for high rents sho… https://t.co/OKrEtYGxm7)

@NickTagliaferro @AsInMarx Thank you 🙏 but I see it less as taking on the machine, but more as empowering the people they’ve systemically disempowered. I’d like to cultivate community where the powerful have sown disunity.

@stateaidguy @InsiderTwets @jimmybot At least on its face that makes sense to me. You should pay taxes where you live b/c your taxes are supposed to benefit you. But I’ll have to do some more reading on this specific bill.

This is a regional housing shortage. Whether we like it or not, NYC’s housing shortage is our housing crisis. This is a systemic problem that needs a systemic solution. Let’s not alienate our neighbors. #EveryoneBelongsHere & that means we need affordable housing for all! QT @jaipatelnj: ????? https://t.co/b9UhZCWvsU)

Am engineer from Hudson County. I can’t tell you why either. QT @BikeHudsonCo: Dear Hudson County Engineers, why include this image as representing the Kennedy Blvd project if there are no plans… https://t.co/ZBIFINJKuc)

We need strong, independent unions fighting for the best interests of all workers, not ones who bow to the same politicians management buys, & not ones who try to buy politicians. We need a labor movement for all socioeconomic classes, industries, and educational attainment.

@Mikevago @BooksPajamas @wildstein @mayorstack It’s Stack trying to have it both ways. Throw some table scraps to the environmentalists while they get away with selling the park to the highest bidder.

.@danaMpatton I loved your comment. This is just the most recent politically motivated slight against the people who the political bosses thing don’t belong here. You’re right that the machine will break down! It’s only a matter of time!

@stateaidguy @InsiderTwets I don’t think I follow. I was under the impression that you pay income taxes to the state you live in. Could you help me understand this a little more?

Jersey City’s slogan low-key describes exactly how the establishment thinks: “Make It Yours” as if you have to take it from someone else. Excuse me, but already IS yours. If you live here, you belong here, whether it’s been 30 days or 30 years. That goes for the whole district.

The latest commenter nailed it: the commission is treating this like a check box. Others have alluded to this: they follow the letter of the law, but kill its spirit.

“Organize, run for office, run for county committee” Absolutely agreed @NoteJoelBrooks!!!! They know it’s the beginning of the end when the people aren’t afraid and work to assert their power. #jcwardmeeting

RT @carlyberwick: Michael Griffin: [This is] suppression and gerrymandering. There is nothing about that map that says continguous and compact boundaries. Ward F is being carved out. . . . There is nothing continguous, compact, or transparent about this. #jcwardmeeting
