In September 2014, Patricia H. Adkins was appointed by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) as its Executive Director, Ms. Adkins is responsible for managing the agency’s $125 million public health and safety budget and more than 500 employees. She also served the Commission for more than seven years as the Chief of Staff to former Chairman Ann Brown. For more than 30 years, Ms. Adkins has held leadership positions in public health, injury prevention, business operations, and public policy with organizations such as Purdue Pharma L.P., the Children’s National Medical Center’s Safe Kids Worldwide, and the Home Safety Council. Ms. Adkins earned her B.A. and M.B.A from Howard University in Washington, D.C.

Bio, via New York Times:

Ms. Hanz was a lawyer for Briggs & Stratton Corp., the world’s largest producer of gasoline engines for power equipment and a leading maker of power generators. The Milwaukee-based company has been fighting the agency’s push to require reduction of the generators’ carbon monoxide emissions, to lower the risk of poisoning associated with using the products indoors. Ms. Hanz was also vice president of the board of directors of the Portable Generator Manufacturers’ Association.

Christopher Hudgins joins CPSC as the Director of the Office Legislative Affairs (OLA). Chris brings a depth of experience to this office as well as a good understanding of CPSC. Since 2008, Chris has served as Vice President, Government Relations and Policy at the International Sleep Products Association (ISPA). In conjunction with his job at ISPA, Chris also served as Vice President, Industry and External Affairs for the Mattress Recycling Council since June 2013. In addition, he has previously held positions with the Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers (AHAM) as well as the National Prostate Cancer Coalition. Chris graduated from the University of Richmond with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science.
