The problem in America is not too much Capitalism, but not enough of it. The most socialized sectors of our economy — healthcare, banking and education — are where we see the worst getting in top through political privilege, not merit.

Income inequality that comes about from access to government privileges and corporate welfare should is a problem. The remedy is stronger free market policies. But income inequality that develops based on merit through voluntary exchange is positive for society.

The difference between rich and poor in America is no longer the “haves” versus the “have nots,” but the “haves” versus the “have betters.” Some people have better cars, but nearly everyone has access to a car. Some have better food, but virtually everyone has access to food.

Free markets allow those who create more value for others to earn more money. Take away the “income inequality” and you take away the added drive for value creation.

By all measurements, standards of living for everyone in America have grown by leaps and bounds over the last half century under Capitalism for everyone — for the rich, the poor and the middle class.

Following in the footsteps of the great Republican Maine Senator Margaret Chase Smith, we should all stand against this Neo-McCarthyism — hysterically accusing patriotic Americans, including military veterans, of being “Russian assets” for daring to oppose forever wars.

Our troops say it’s time to come home. I say it’s time for Washington DC to listen to them.

Congress never authorized Barack Obama to put our troops in Syria — he Americana people were overwhelmingly opposed to it — and yet he did it anyway. Even then, our soldiers were only supposed to be there for 30 days. Now, they’ve been there for years! #BringThemHome

@PPHEricRussell I may not support the practice of publishing the names of regular people who contribute to political efforts, but it appears I may have been to quick to suggest a double standard.

@SenatorBrakey
You and I both know why the PPH is publishing the names of every Maine person who donated to the campaign on this highly stigmatized issue.

The last 3 Presidents were responsible for: 1. Hundreds of thousands of civilian deaths in undeclared wars; 2. Mass spying on the American people; 3. Bankruptcy of the greatest nation the word has ever known; And we are supposed to impeach Trump over a phone call?

You know Angus King is nervous when he starts brining a pocket Constitution to debates. I’m glad to know he owns one. #mepolitics
