Project Description
Paving of road from village of Narazia to Tani DC
Project Goals
The current project proposes to pave 15 Km of road from the Tani District Center into the village of Narazia in Tani District. Paving this road will provide a continuous paved road from Khost City to Narazia, greatly enhancing the movement of goods and services from Khost City throughout Tani District. This road is the main North-South road in Tani District, and paving the road will greatly enhance the safe and quick movement of vehicles through the area. There is also extensive local agriculture along the road, and by providing a paved road, this will allow farmers to more easily move resources through the region. The road paving project will connect the district center to more remote locations throughout Tani District, opening valuable agriculture, construction materials and farmers markets to broader trade and commerce opportunities. The road will also increase the capacity of the government by allowing provincial and district officials ease of travel to and from the capitol and other areas of the province. It will also significantly increase response time for moving critically ill or injured residents from the district to central provincial advanced health care facilities for treatment. Comments: COR-LTJG Anthony Delgadillo as of 9MAR2010 This road project was originally proposed for CERP funding in May 2008, but rejected by Division because they claimed that AED was planning to pave the road. However, the PRT Khost civil engineer LT Leyva recent received an e-mail from AED concerning this road. AED will NOT be paving the road from the Tani DC to the village of Narazia. They are paving a different road approximately 1 Km to the west of this road, running roughly parallel for part of its distance. The road being paved by AED runs to BCP 5 in Spera district, NOT Narazia village. LT Levya recently sent the following e-mail to me concerning the AED road vs. the Narazia Village Road: MAJ Baumgardner, I have attached the map from CDR Sauer detailing the proposed AED Road from the Tani DC to BCP5. The Engineering Staff plotted the road as sketched in the attached map and this road and the PRT''s proposed Narizah to Tani DC Road do not correlate. I have also attached the AED Road tracker dated 20AUG08. This road is slated at 30-km with an awarded contract. Thanks. V/R LT M. Antonio Leyva PRT Khost Engineer USN, CEC The map reference in the above e-mail is attached to this proposal. CHange in PPO and PA from 15 Jul 09 to 8 Mar 10; LT Brent Peterson and MSG Tim Vaughan, respectfully.
