Project Description
New paving of Dabgai Tanna Road. The current project proposes to pave 24 Km of road from near Bazar Village in Matun District past Dabgai Village to the Pakistan border in Tere Zayi District. Paving this road will provide a continuous paved road from Khost City to the border, greatly enhancing the movement of goods and services from Khost City to Dabgai Village and Pakistan.
Project Goals
The current project proposes to pave 24 Km of road from near Bazar Village in Matun District past Dabgai Village to the Pakistan border in Tere Zayi District. Paving this road will provide a continuous paved road from Khost City to the border, greatly enhancing the movement of goods and services from Khost City to Dabgai Village and Pakistan. This road is one of the two main East-West Roads in Tere Zayi District, and will be the only paved East-West road in the district if approved. There are many large trucks transporting mainly food staples from Pakistan into Afghanistan using this road. Paving the road will greatly enhance the safe and quick movement of vehicles through the area. There is also extensive local agriculture along the road, and by providing a paved road, this will allow farmers to more easily move resources through the region. The Dabgai Tanna Road paving project will connect Khost City to more remote locations in Tere Zayi, opening valuable agriculture, construction materials and farmers markets to broader trade and commerce opportunities. The road will also increase the capacity of the government by allowing provincial and district officials ease of travel to and from the capitol and other areas of the province. It will also significantly increase response time for moving critically ill or injured residents from the district to central provincial advanced health care facilities for treatment. Comments: Change in PPO and PA from 15 Jul 09 thru 8 Mar 10; LT Brent Peterson and MSG Tim Vaughan, respectively.
