This is why building fossil fuel plants that pollute the air are so harmful: they poison millions of people downwind. Green ⚡️means clean air for the entire region, clean air means healthier & longer lives for all. That’s why we need a Green New Deal! https://t.co/fLXDaCBPLi QT @nynjconnweather: )

I can’t believe this has to be said but: DO NOT CROSS RAILROAD TRACKS WHEN THE BARRIERS ARE DOWN, EVEN IF THE TRAIN HAS PASSED. You don’t know whether another is coming or backing up. No amount of time saved is worth your life.

@ThymeWrong @ewarren That’s why I’m so glad you reached out. If you hadn’t brought this to my attention, I wouldn’t be able to advocate for it in the first place. Now we’ve added a new angle to this national discussion & when I’m in Congress, I’ll be bringing this up as we move the issue forward.

RT @mdasilva1563: Proud to support @RicardoRojasNJ in his upstart primary challenge in NJ-8. I got to know him on the @KevinRBing campaign - he is the fierce progressive Hudson County deserves in Congress. https://t.co/ifpgatDvtw

@ZaidaGrunes Ugh, I’m so happy that movie showed people how amazing our culture is. Yes, women do run my family hahaha

@ZaidaGrunes It’s peppered with so many little references to Colombian culture, I had such a fun time watching my culture be celebrated. Legit said to myself “holy crap is this what representation feels like?”

Mami got a BS in Nutrition in Colombia in the 80s. She graduated without a penny of debt. I graduated in 2017 in the US, I have $125000 in student debt. Ppl come to the US for a better life, not to line the pockets of big banks. #CancelStudentDebt

Ah yes, because the Governor just endorses every millennial Latin guy from Hudson. He got the endorsement of the HCDO before he himself announced he was running. Don’t let Menendez Sr gaslight you, he already has stepped in. QT @MattFriedmanNJ: Haha yeah ok https://t.co/gxFZm6ac7K)

“A twin building is being split into 2 different wards, people aren’t looking at the actual community.” Another commenter who advocated for making additional wards. #jcwardmeeting

The community of the Heights has really spoken with one voice: they want to be unified. If this were a just system, they would be. #jcwardmeeting

The latest commenter, Barbara Camacho brings up an interesting idea: this map is anti-Black. It’s anti-Black b/c it’s meant to dilute the power of our Black neighbors & their duly elected leaders. It’s a grave injustice on top of a history of injustices for our Black brethren.

A few commenters have demanded that the commission defend this map. They won’t because they don’t answer to the people. They answer to their bosses. When the Mayor’s aide is on this commission, how can one possibly believe otherwise?

Political bosses don’t “get things done”. They throw you table scraps & demand you thank them for it while they block meaningful change.

RT @BerniceKing: “The white liberal must see that the Negro needs not only love but also justice. It is not enough to say, “We love Negroes, we have many Negro friends.” They must demand justice for Negroes. Love that does not satisfy justice is no love at all.” Rev. Dr

The fact that you’ll be more likely to see a cannabis dispenary on Newark Ave in JC than Bergenline Ave is a problem with how legalization has rolled out in NJ. Our patchwork local injustice is a microcosm of the lack of federal legalization. #legalizecannabisnow

There’s no good reason for Latin ppl to have 8% of NJ’s reps when we make up 20% of the state and don’t all live in the same place. The same goes for our Black neighbors who make up 15% but also only get 8% of the representation. /6

My opponent has his problems, but our message is simple: everyone belongs here. Everyone belongs in the democratic process b/c everyone should own their future & have a say in their community. Big thanks to @NickTagliaferro & @AsInMarx for the feature on their substack! https://t.co/ibHm7Uxdi9
